I've been this route, for the time and effort you take to do this,(not to mention the money) the hassles of the card, hooking up play devices like a VHS Player, or even a Movie camera, the QUALITY is just TERRIBLE, on my HD 1080i Sony Player and my widescreen HD TV, the copys are PURE JUNK IMHO! :disagree: Your better off to just go BUY the DVD of your choice, and have a pleasnt viewing experince. When hooked up to a HD TV. the quality of these copys are so bad, that watching it on Cable TV is far better! Don't waste the time, effort or MONEY, go BUY the DVD!:agree:
If the original media (whatever it may be) is in good condition and you have the appropiate hardware/software and very good copy can be had. I forgot to mention that it may also take a bit of knowlege about "this process" because some of the "good intents" actually backfire and result in a markedly bad result.
I'd challenge "Buddy" to find an original McHale's Navy (staring Tim Conway) on DVD. You can't hardly find it on VHS and when you can the cost is $100 or more depending on the quality of the VHS.
For perspective regarding "quality": Does anyone remember the old 8mm "colour" films that the "old folks (and me) used to take"? Flicker, flicker, dim in, dim out, and lots of specks and other imperfections (faded color at it's best) etc... All in all, they were and still remain "Priceless".... even when viewed on the Huge HD 1080i or whatever TVs/Monitors....
