It appears some new protections have surfaced.

3.1.7.0 (Aug 20, 2007)
- New: Added support for a new ARccOS protection as found on "Half Past Dead 2" (R4).
- New: Added support for a new CORE X2 protection.
- New: Added AutoPlay handler on Windows Vista.
- New: Added display for actual DVD size, like "Quality: 100% (7655 MB -> 7655 MB)".
- New: Updated language files.
- Fix: "Error while reading" in certain cases.
- Fix: Workaround for authoring error as found on "The World Is Not Enough" (US).
- Fix: A crash problem in certain cases.
- Fix: Several minor problems.

That is from the DVDFab Decrypter changelog.

Core X2 is only used in Czech/ Slovakia. Anydvd supports the old ones, don't know about the new ones.

I don't think that anydvd supports the latest core x2.

One thing to take into account is that just because DVDFab updated their product for protections doesn't mean Slysoft has to update anything to have things continue to work. While both companies have products that handle decryption it doesn't mean they do it the same way.

It's possible that DVDFab's way had issues with newer Arccos protection and they had to update it. As for the Core X2 protection it's possible that Slysoft's method still works just fine. Until a user has a problem with a disc we won't know.

In the end there's no point in comparing release notes, IMHO. Just use the software you think works best and when there is a problem report it, submit the IFOs [if needed], and answer whatever questions are asked. :)

What's New:

3.1.7.2 Beta (Aug 24, 2007):
- New: Added support for a new CORE X2 protection.
- New: Workaround for an authoring error by some DVD maker software.
- New: Added support for 18x burning speed.
- New: Improved UI on high DPI settings.
- New: Updated language files.
- Fix: Several crash problem when copying DVD in certain cases.
The new changelog if anyone is interested.
