Recommended movies to watch or avoid

I finally got around to seeing Shooter. Definitely a good movie in my book. Wish I had seen it in the theatre but it's rare for me actually go to a movie theatre. I think I've seen less than 10 movies in the theatre in the last 10 yrs.

More Than Meets The Eye

I went to see the Transformers the other night and i was very impressed with it.

THE BEST to WATCH

Porno and start a collection from rental's...:D:D

Hot Fuzz

I loved "Hot Fuzz" on HD DVD. Impressive picture, great sound mix, hilarious movie (if you like British humor).

I went to a pre-screening of the movie Stardust last week. Absolutely one of the best fantasy films I've seen. I can hardly wait for it to come out on dvd!

Almost any film with Nicolas Cage. His duo with Sir Shaun Connery in The Rock was awesome!

Any updates for this thread?

It's not on DVD yet but I saw Kung Fu Panda at the theater and thought it was cute/funny. If I had little kids, I'd get it when it comes out on DVD.

Underdog was a pleasent surprise.
Secondhand Lions was superb.
Disturbia was better than average for it's genre.
Shootem Up was a great offbeat action type.
The Mist was a good charater study in despair.
Rocky Balboa was surprisingly good - director commentary a must later
Ditto Rambo
Ditto Die Hard 4 (except commentary)
Iron Man absolutely rocked.

Recently I have seen The Illusionist, The Guardian, The Departed, Ice Age 2, Open Season and would recommend them for viewing.

Which movies have you watched that you either really enjoyed, or would advise not wasting money on?

No Country for old men was a stinker. I was hoping for Tommy Lee to find the weirdo and shoot him!!

The Princess Bride is a true classic!

I have to say I liked Charlie Bartlett. For anyone who liked movies like Heathers and Pump Up the Volume this runs along the same vein. It's not dark and bleak like Heathers and Pump Up the Volume, however.

It definitely wasn't a movie that required a lot of intelligence but it's another commentary on the chasm between teens and adults. Some will say it's garbage and some may like it.
