I don't know what exactly it was that AnyDVD did in this update, but if I did know, maybe it would help figure out what exactly is wrong with my drive. I thought I had fixed it when I uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled and rebooted, but now its back to not working.

What happens: constantly getting the message "Your disc is dirty or damaged!" ,etc. when trying to copy a disc.

Blank media is recognized by the drive after a minute or so, but not recordable. When burning, it stays at "0%" for about 10-15 minutes, and then the drive spits it out saying that its not compatible.

Switched media to HP DVD+R, it burns about halfway, and then it spits it out.

When I did get to copy a disc, it copied about halfway and then spit it out.

ALL DVDs DO PLAY (regardless of messages that AnyDVD gives me saying they are dirty or damaged) - they just don't copy or burn now.

I'm intentionally not providing all my drive info, disc info, media info because I know that, before Saturday, and before 6.1.6.6, everything worked perfectly. I'm hoping that the new update will put everything back to normal. And since AnyDVD updates every few days, it should be soon hopefully.

Its just a shame that this update affected the amount of people it has.

and PS: I did do the regedit thing.

Get AnyDVD 6.1.6.9.

I've been on AnyDVD 6.1.6.9 for two days, thanks. And FYI, it is the update that I've been uninstalling and reinstalling trying to get my drive to work again.

I can't believe someone would seriously think the solution to this problem was that simple.

I know it's not the solution but lets work with the latest version.

Read my last post again, thanks.

If my last post somehow does not make sense to you, I've been using THE LATEST VERSION SINCE THE HOUR IT CAME OUT. THANKS.

You did not indicate that you had used 6.1.6.9 in your first post though, that's why I said that.

I've done all of this twice

Right click the Anydvd icon on your desktop. Click "properties". Click the "Compatibility tab". If you're using
Windows XP, ensure the box for "compatibility mode" is not selected. -- thanks to vbro for the information

linx05 says Teatimer enabled on Spybot can cause problems during installation: visit http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.ph...04&postcount=5

1. Exit out of all Slysoft programs and reinstall

a) Keep your license key file backed up safely
b) Uninstall Anydvd (start-->all programs-->Slysoft--->Anydvd-->Uninstall)
c) Reboot
d) Try running a registry cleaner program at this point like CCleaner
e) Download Anydvd http://static.slysoft.com/SetupAnyDVD.exe
f) Exit all Slysoft programs (including Anydvd, Clonedvd2, Clonecd, Clonecdtray, Clonedvdmobile, etc.). Check Windows Task Manager if you have to.
g) At this point disable your antivirus and firewall programs
h) Reinstall
i) Reboot
j) Install your license key (if required) http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=732
k) At this point enable your antivirus and firewall programs

If that doesn't work go on to step 2.

2. Read http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=1307 fully

3. Click this

Do what it says to do.

Use one of the programs mentioned, and list your Lowerfilters and Upperfilters in your next post.

Or for XP users only,
Click Start, Run
type regedit
Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Current Control Set\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

We want what's listed in "LowerFilters" and "UpperFilters". List your Lowerfilters and Upperfilters in your next post.

Before you do this visit http://www.cdr-zone.com/forum/about4719.html, and read the first post please, so you can get a better understanding of what is going on.

If none of that works, do I have to ask for the LockedIO registry patch? Or is the LockedIO registry patch something else?

A lot of the time it is that simple, updating solves problems. And since you specified you were using version 6.1.6.6 the right thing to do would be update. Please spare the sarcasm and rudeness on this bored.

Please share us the information you are with holding. If you want help, you need to help us.

Switched media to HP DVD+R, it burns about halfway, and then it spits it out.

1. Use good quality media (Memorex, Ritek, Princo, Fuji, TDK from Costco, and Maxell that are not made in Japan are not good quality media). Are you using inferior blank media? If you're not using Taiyo Yuden Premium, Verbatim, Maxell Plus, or Maxell Broadcast Quality, then chances are the answer is yes.
If you use poor quality blank media, then you should expect problems.

3. Do steps 3 and 4 from here:

No. You haven't. Post the required information in step 4.

Web, I would consider Sony DVD-R media to be premium since I have made tons of copies with them with no problems.

They aren't. Sony isn't terrible, on average, but they are not in the same category as the others I listed.

If you must know, my lower filter is "anydvd". No upper filter.

Thanks for helping, but I've already returned several batches of DVD+Rs the past week and don't feel like returning more rendered defective discs. My inferior blank media has worked for several years fine.

Even if the media is bad, the only explanation would be if I was trying to burn too fast. And my drive is, surprisingly, set to burn at 2.4x.

There is no update for my drive's firmware as well...

Burning too slowly is just as bad as burning too fast.

I use the Sony DVD+R. DetroitBaseball, what would your assumption be if your Sony DVD-Rs stopped burning?

Burning too slowly is just as bad as burning too fast.

I never even set it at that, I just discovered it the other night. My drive has been set on that since I bought my computer I think. And to think I would wait 30-40 minutes for a finished copy
