I have a retail version of "Meet the Parents" which fails to have the protection removed. My new DVD player refuses to play it saying it is not compatible and my PC DVD device does the same. I've never had this happen with any DVD before. What could be the problem? It is not a new DVD and was purchased several years ago but has never been out of the case till now. There are no apparent scratches or abnormalities.

AnyDVD : Current 7.6.7.0
Windows 10 64bit
Title: Meet the Parents Collector's Edition
Region: 1
Purchased in USA

You need to supply a logfile before any one can help, instructions can be found in the 'Please read before you post' sticky

No logfile needed for this suggestion...
Try cleaning the DVD first.
If that doesn't help: assuming your (standlone) DVD player plays other DVDs fine, then the disc is probably kapput (probably borderline bad when you purchased it years ago).

Thanks for your response. I uploaded a logfile.

DVD is in pristine condition. It was still wrapped in cellophane and was opened just prior to placing it in the player.:(

Have you tried cleaning it?

Another thing to do is to exit fully out of AnyDVD (right click on the fox icon down by the clock and choose 'exit') then in Windows set the drive region. This probably won't fix the issue with this disc but it will help with certain other discs in the future

Although in pristine condition, I did clean it and the drive region is set to 1. Still no good :(. Sounds like I got a bad DVD from the start. Mike is probably right and the DVD is just "kaput".
Anyway, thanks guys for trying to help.

According to the logfile the drive region is not set. AnyDVD fools Windows into thinking it's set which is why you need to exit out of AnyDVD before trying to set it
From the logfile

Darn, you are right! I thought it was set by the Windows region setting. I found you have to set it in Device Manager for the drive. I did set it to 1 after exiting AnyDVD but, as you said, it did not help with this particular DVD.

I believe this disc is defective. Does it play in your PC drive? I doubt it.

Will not play anywhere. What threw me off was the message from my DVD player which said it was "incompatible". That made me think it was something wrong with the region or with CSS. I've accepted the fact it is a defective disc.
