I have tried several backups in MP4 format for my Panasonic smart TV.
All the backups complete successfully and play on PC.
My Panasonic plays the first 15 seconds then the App closes.
It plays MP4's from the 'net and backups made using clone DVD mobile from DVD but the Blu-ray backups fail 100%
I have tried 1920x1080 Mp4 file and several Ipad profiles, all fail after 15 seconds exactly.

Just done 2 more backups of DVD's - work fine.
2 more bluray backups - crash!!!

Tried playback from USB in case it was a network issue but no go.

77 views and no reply from anyone??

I only paid for CloneBD to backup my movies and playback through my TV.
Every other program I have doesn't work 100% and I had such high hopes for this.
Doesn't even work 1% of the time.

BDrebuilder does everything else for free.
Has anyone had the same issue or can reproduce it??
Ideas for a fix.

Getting frustrated at the lack of response from Elby/Slysoft to some of the issues on here.

Check the panasonic app :agree:

As you say, all backups are succesful.

I cant work out why it plays CloneDVd backups but not CloneBD.

They are different file types and different profile levels. Ones an m4v and the other an mp4. Other than they use Mpeg-4 the files are not even vaguely the same, different codecs, frame size, frame rate etc.

OK, can you look this over?
Seems to be same file type/codec as failing rip.

Found out my TV plays .mkv.
Backed up affected disks to .mkv - works fine.

So...... there must be some sort of issue with CloneBD creating mp4 that will not play on a Panasonic TV.

MP4 from other sources = OK
MKV from ANY source (inc CloneBD) = OK
MP4 from CloneBD = fail

Again the mp4 file is not the same as the ones made by CloneBD. Different codec, different profile levels.....

What model TV is it? It may not support level 4.0

It's a 12 month old TX-L55ET60B.
I appreciate that most users are using media players or PC's to view the backups but I have paid for the program just like them and want files that will playback on my TV.
My point is, why isn't the CloneDB profile/codec working on a 12 month old TV when EVERY other MP4 file I have plays fine.
Why use "level 4" if it isn't supported by a 1 year old TV, what about people using older devices??
Why should I have to have a knowledge of codecs and profiles to make a piece of software that I have paid over £60 work properly??

Most importantly, how can I get an output file from CloneDB that will play on my TV when I cannot alter the codec/profile manually even if I wanted to.

How are they supposed to know what every device in the world will take? That's why they have specific settings for specific phones etc. The standard MP4 option makes an MP4 designed for playback on a PC and most media players. You will never be able to make a file that will play back on every device as different devices work to different specifications.

As it is they appear to have added in extra restrictions to try and make it work on Panasonic device

Fix: More AVC restrictions for playback on some hardware players (Panasonic)

The fact they have to add in more restrictions to get it to work implies that Panasonic have restricted the MP4 settings which is why normal MP4's don't work as well.

With regard to MP4 this from the manual of your TV kind of says it all
This TV supports this container recorded with Panasonic products. For
details, read the manual of the products
So it only officially supports .MP4 files created buy other Panasonic devices which shows they have put their own restrictions in place and the devs here need to know what those restrictions are to be able to get working MP4's. Hopefully they've now been able to do that, but as it shows your 1 year old TV has been restricted on what it can play.

Thanks for that Adbear, I appreciate you trying to help.

"The fact they have to add in more restrictions to get it to work implies that Panasonic have restricted the MP4 settings which is why normal MP4's don't work as well."

My point is that EVERY SINGLE MP4 obtained elsewhere plays EXCEPT the CloneDB ones.

It also plays AVI, MTS, MKV without a problem.
I really want to use the MP4 format so I can put them on my Ipad as well.
I can use MKV but have to transcode them again if I want to put them on my Ipad.

Every one of your other mp4's are not full hd nor do they use the same profile levels or codecs etc, so it's not a valid comparison. Blame Panasonic for making an extremely restricted mp4 player in their TV's. The MP4's made with CloneBD play back fine on my LG TV which is at least 2 years old

Well, I will try the new version later:

•Fix: More AVC restrictions for playback on some hardware players (Panasonic)

Well, I got 60 seconds out of it before the screen started flashing black then white.
Obviously still not right.

I've got a LG 60" smart TV model LB7100, and I've used cloneBD on several movies, works like a champ, only wish I could use the DVD cover instead of having a Jpeg of it then the mp4 right next to it. It would surly make it look a lot nicer.

Finally got a solution I can live with until CloneDb makes MP4 compatible with my TV.
My TV still won't play MP4's created using CloneDB.
I am using Windows Home server for a storage device and the default Windows Media DLNA server.
Windows DLNA doesn't support .mkv so I loaded up a trial of Twonky.
Twonky indexes my .mkv and the TV plays .mkv!
Result.

I'll just have to transcode again with AirVideo if I want them on my Ipad
