This disc isn't even protected. Does the bottom of the disc look silver?

No, I don't think so. I have having the same problem with The Chambermaid just released by MTI Video. The original is sitting in my drive right now and looks just like Vandegraph. I get the exact same error and it hangs every time. This is the first title after many hundred that I have had issue with.

I have used every method I can think of to get this movie backed up.

1. Answer question 9 from http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=321

2. Does the bottom of the disc appear silver?

The disc is silver. The error msg is the same as vandegraph got using the AnyDVD ripper: PS 10 VOBU 4 1479407 264 CLONE 6. The problem is with VTS_01_2 everytime. Using CloneDVD 2.9.0.9 the file gets to 51% and then I get a device I/O error. Since this disc does not appear to be protected I tried DVD Decrypter and same I/O error at 51%. Also tried to directly copy the file to the hard drive and I don't get an error, but it just stops. There are no scratches on the disc and it has been cleaned. The disc also plays fine in the player with no issues. Did I mention that I retuned the disc to the store because I thought the first disc was defective? This is my second copy an the exact same problem in the exact same place. Interesting problem.

Try cleaning your disc. Download Nero cd-dvd speed. It's a free program. Select the tab labeled "scandisc". Select the appropriate drive letter, and click "start". If Nero cd-dvd speed reports read errors, your disc is (probably) bad and needs to be exchanged--even if it plays fine (or your optical drive could be slowly dying).

it not a new Encryption. VCX company has been doing this for years & not to mention small film companies.

it not really even a Encryption it a on purpose screw-up that is locate in-between chapter some time it happen at 51 percent some time 75 percent. & some time when they are trying be extra funny it happen at 98 percent.

so you can go back to the store & buy all of them in stock or rental them or whatever you will get the same freeze spot.

I really dig how the Japanese has pick up on this (Laguna Productions)

I mean you got to do something when protected DVDs or getting easiler to crack so now here a batch of Unprotected DVDs now crack this...

Copy issues...

I have been having the same issues with copying DVDs on my desktop computer. Every original DVD I put in the drive gets the error "PS 10 VOBU 4 287 1 Clone 6" when I try to use the AnyDVD Ripper. Every copied DVD I try to run through AnyDVD Ripper gets the error "CloneMap 2". I have tried to uninstall AnyDVD with no luck. I have also uninstalled AnyDVD, cleaned out the registry with Norton Utilities and CCleaner, rebooted and reinstalled AnyDVD still with no luck. The thing that gets me is that this issue is only occuring with my desktop computer. I have version 6.1.6.5. of AnyDVD also installed on my laptop and it rips the same DVDs that gave me the error on my desktop computer with no issues. Here is the information from two examples that I was trying tonight on my desktop computer:

Movie "Peaceful Warrior" - Orignial Copy

Movie "The Village" - Copied by ripping with AnyDVD Ripper (Version 6.1.6.5.) and burned with OneClick DVD Copy Pro.

Summary for drive D: (AnyDVD 6.1.6.5)
GIGABYTE GO-B5232A NKY1 JAN12 ,2004
Drive (Hardware) Region: 0 (not set!)

Media is a DVD.
Booktype: dvd-r (version 5), Layers: 1
Total size: 2211984 sectors (4320 MBytes)

Video DVD (or CD) label: THE_VILLAGE
Media is not CSS protected.
Video Standard: NTSC
Media is region free.

For additional information, when I try to burn an original DVD through OneClick DVD Copy Pro, it will go through the motions to compress the movie to fit on a single layer disc, but when it goes into the burn cycle, it burns for a few seconds and then finalizes the disc. Obviously, leaving me with a coaster. Also, if I try to compress the movie through CloneDVD Mobile, it says that there was an error reading the disc. These operations are performed with AnyDVD 6.1.6.5. running on my desktop computer.

So far, I have had the above issues with Premonition, Hills Have Eyes 2, Peaceful Warrior, The Contract, The Number 23, Nomad: The Warrior, The Village, and The Protector (2006).

Any DVD Ripper problems

The problem persists with AnyDVD version 6.1.6.6. except now I get the "Clone 6" error with copied DVDs as well instead of the "CloneMap 2" error.

As you can see from the release notes, the protection of "Ghost Gate" isn't yet supported, sorry.

@ thespottedgopher,

Welcome to the Forum.

You do not have a Region Code selected/set for your DVD Burner. For the AnyDVD Software Program to function and operate correctly requires that the DVD Device have a Region Code properly selected/set. Below are the steps to select/set the Region Code for your DVD device ->

Right click the fox on your toolbar. Exit AnyDVD (Ensure that AnyDVD is NOT activated when proceding with the next steps)
ii. Click start. Right click on "My computer"--->select "properties".
iii.Click on the 'Hardware' tab--->click the 'device manager' button.
iv. Open the dvd/cdrom branch---> right click on your optical drive
v. Click "properties".
vi. You should have a region tab. From there you can select a region.
vii. Select the region that matches the region on the disc
viii. Start AnyDVD
ix. click the Fox icon on your toolbar. Go to Video dvd--->settings
x. Change the default to match the region on the disc
xi. Click Ok

Regards
Coaster
