I'm not sure about others but I would much rather play a movie when its on a hard drive by double clicking a file than having to load it with Powerdvd and then finding the folder.

For HDDVD movings, if you make a shortcut to the .XPL file you can play the movie by clicking that file. With Bluray, I'm not sure if anyway to play a movie with a single file besides the M2TS file in the stream folder. However, PDVD 7.3 3104a does not play the M2TS file correctly all the time. Sometimes you dont get audio, sometimes you get the wrong language, sometimes the subtitles do not apear when they should. Does anyone know how to manipulate the M2TS file so that it plays a certain language over another or delivers sound when it sould.

For example, casino royale's m2ts file plays fine. Other m2ts files such as apocalypto's does not.

Thanks

You could always rip your HD DVD and BD to ISO, install Daemon Tools and Fast Mount which result on playback when you click on the ISO. This method plays as if the disc was in a real drive with menus etc available.

I use Zoom Player to play all files other than HD and I can even launch the HD ISOs from Zoom's Media selector, I can do all this from my remote with a couple of button presses.

This is a bug in PowerDVD and should work. I've opened two cases to get this fixed at Cyberlink. I suggest you push them, too.

How are you converting the HD or BD to ISO?

Just go into Nero, tell it to create a disc, set udf to 2.5 (if you intend to write back to a disc in the future), set recorder to image recorder and create an ISO image

Thanks Adbear... Doesn't Nero make .nrg files? Are you then converting to ISO or leaving as is?

had a quick look on the net and found this:

In nero go file -> options -> expert features and check "enable all supported recorder formats for the image recorder", this alows you to burn to ISO as well as NRG format.

Then I assume you just change the file type in the save menu

Yep, after you tell it to burn it asks you where you want to save the image, use the drop down to change from nrg to iso

I cannot get this to work. I am using Nero 7.8.5.0. I am launching the program "Nero Burning Rom". When it opens, I choose "Blu-Ray Disc (UDF)" and then hit new. I then find the BDMV folder for the bluray movie and add that to the new compilation. I then choose image recorder and hit burn. But when I hit burn, I do not get the option to save the image. It seems to want me to insert a BDR but I do not want to burn to disc but create an ISO.

Please help. Thanks.

before you start burning make sure you choose "image burner" as your output destination. it appears that you have your bluray burner selected currently

Thanks guys. I got it all to work now. I use Daemon Tools pro version to load the ISO by right clicking....pdvd then loads up right away and plays the movie perfectly.
