Filters entries in your registry don't change if you install different versions of Anydvd.

A Lower Filter found is: drvmcdb
A Lower Filter found is: DLACDBHM

You need to uninstall Drive Letter Access. Ensure those two filters no longer appear in your registry. Then reboot.

anydvd 6.1.6.4 works
anydvd 6.1.6.5 will stop drive reading any disk's

With respect to dvds, I see no difference between 6.1.6.4 and 6.1.6.5.
I suspect the only major difference was that one version is a beta release and the other is a public release. What exactly doesn't work? What happens? Do you get any kind of error message?

Are you using a crack? Cracks can cause issues.

6.1.6.4 2007 06 18
- New (DVD): Added support for a new copy protection to the option to remove
"Protection based on unreadable Sectors", e.g. "Free Zone", R1, US
- Change (DVD): Because of popular demand, the "bad sector count
numbers" of versions before 6.1.6.0 are back
- Change: Shows correct disc size with virtual drives
- Change: Because of undesired side effects, the Sonic DLA behaviour before
version 6.1.5.4 is back
- Fix (DVD): Because of an internal overflow, some Sony Arccos
protections were not removed correctly (e.g., "UFC65", R2, UK)
- Fix (DVD): Possible hang if heavily scratched or damaged
Video DVD was inserted
- Fix (HD DVD & Blu-ray): In a rare situation, renaming the AACS directory
could fail (e.g., "The Hulk", HD DVD, US)
- Fix (HD DVD & Blu-ray): Problem with Windows Vista UDF file system
- Some minor fixes and improvements
- Updated languages

can not record or read any cd's there are no disk's in drive in nero there is no disk drive just image drive in Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 it say's please insert disk in my windows media player no disk if i insert dvd or music
so if i use anydvd 6.1.6.5 my drive will not read any type of disk but 6.6.1.4 works perfect so there as to be a fault with 6.1.6.5
i have also tried nero 6.6.1.15a

If you're using a crack or have a key blacklisting issue, that might explain the problem.

As far as dvds go, based on the release notes, I don't see any difference between 6.1.6.4 and 6.1.6.5 (except for 6.1.6.4 being a beta and 6.1.6.5 being an official release), but James would know if there is any real difference between these Anydvd versions.

Are your drive ide or sata?

1. If your optical drives are ide, do this:
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.php?p=1455402&postcount=3

2. Also, do this:
http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.php?p=24297&postcount=4

Other than that, I'm out of suggestions. I find your issue pretty weird, since again, I'm not aware of a significant difference between Anydvd 6.1.6.4 and 6.1.6.5 as far as dvds go. And I also can't reproduce your issue.

ide drive's
tried that on cdfreaks will not work
and disabled IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service

Several things here to consider ... I gave up on Roxio after Roxio 6 had a bad conflict with Norton's disabling it willy-nilly, which the only fix at the time was to wipe the OS. Nero 7 has a conflict with some video cards so am using Nero 6. In the midst of the variable troubleshooting I had to do on my other pc sorting these things out, I experienced my drives disappearing or not reading as well ... and that was with using a much older version of anydvd but was current at the time. The pc went into the shop and the big contributing factor for the drives reading sometimes and not reading was due to a malfunctioning disk controller card ... the cheaper brand, which is known to have this issue (naturally didn't know this at the time). For me, that pc is a big momma and I refer to it that way ... sunk many $$ into it and getting a new better brand disk controller card for that pc ... 10portsataraid ... no way! So, knowing it has this defect and works most of the time and being aware that a reboot may "reset" it or have to remove/delete the drives and reboot, etc. I don't use big momma as much. Also, realize that ALL your burners should have updated firmware and if you are using an external usb burner, you need to pop it inside your pc to do the firmware update and then can put it in your external. I don't know about Roxio 9 and if there are any issues with conflicts with other software on the pc since I refuse to mess with Roxio anymore as much as I did like it. However, removing Roxio 9 and installing Nero 7 you may open another conflict door since Nero 7 has known conflicts with some video cards, so if you got Nero 6 laying about, try it and see if this problem goes away. Also, you may wish to explore what set up you have with your disc controller hardware. I don't know if Nero or the video card companies have addressed any kind of "fix" to avoid the video card conflict since I had been informed last year about this, but considering the posts here I would gather that nothing has been made to patch it.

No disk with 6.1.6.5

I am having a similar problem:

When I insert a DVD, CPU usage jumps to 100%

Windows indicates that there is no disk in the drive.

It is happening under both Windows XP Home and Vista Home Premium. I have installed 6.1.6.0 but the problem persists. Both OS's worked fine in the past with 6.1.6.5, but the problem began occurring last week (about Wednesday). Maybe Microsoft issued something in a patch that is upsetting some configurations?

i have tried nero 6 but still the same and without nero or roxio on my pc and still the same

It also happens in WinXP Pro. However the problem is NOT occuring in my old Pioneer DVD-ROM nor in my virtual drives. Since my burner takes considerably more time to recognize disks than they do, I'm suspecting perhaps it's a timeout issue that's resulting in AnyDVD failing to recognize the drive and locking it up in the process... However 6.1.6.1 still works fine...

I am having similar problems

I didn't backup anything last week after installing AnyDVD 6.1.6.5, but have tried unsuccessfully to copy Hills Have Eyes 2 Unrated, The Last Mimzy and Premonition. All failed to read in either of my DVD drives. I have uninstalled 6.1.6.5. and reinstalled 6.1.3.0. (my first install) to no avail. So what should we do now, wait until the next update? All of the aforementioned discs have been read and successfully copied on my daughters machine using DVDFabDecrypter, and it was free. Older movies that I have copied with copy protection eliminated will still read, along with older theatrical releases and CD roms. What is the IO patch?

Premonition doesn't have any protection on it at all, other than CSS, so Anydvd isn't the issue here. If your drives can't see the discs with Anydvd uninstalled, your problems lie elsewhere.
