I ripped a movie to hdd on my Vista hdd. Everything works great. I copied the movie to a hdd on my xp pro rig and the movie plays, I get music and sound effects but no voice audio??

Check the Audio configuration in your player software and in Windows' control panel. It is probably incorrect, so "voice" (usually the center channel) is not delivered.
 
For some reason my 6 speaker config does not work. I put it on 2 speaker and now have voice audio.
