Thought this might be relevant because James and Co. have been telling us to buy hddvd because it tramples less on consumer rights.

Great idea if enough Indie movies are of good enough quality to go HD. The cost issue worries me though because if it's like other low volume media the price will be high.

At least it is cheaper than BD, 'cause you don't have the AACS license requirement with HD DVD. Some indie or smaller labels and some european studios already publish HD DVD discs without AACS.
