As most of the others in this thread, You need to set the drive region, that'll solve some issues.
 
one shot issue

AnyDVD is not able to crack the CSS code foir Jack Reacher. Will there be an update soon?
 
When you set your drive hardware region. Then it'll crack the CSS
 
Correct. The Jack Reacher problem is CSS - and THEN structural issues.

Attention to people not reading closely:

This disc requires an AnyDVD update.

While Clam's and Ch3vr0n's advice about setting your drive's region is good general advice:

It will NOT FIX THIS DISC UNTIL THERE IS AN ANYDVD UPDATE.

@Pelvis: didn't say it would solve all issues, did say it would solve SOME issues (as in the CSS) didn't say anything about the non-rippable issue :)
 
Possible Solution

Managed to RIP DVD by allowing ANYDVD to process the disc as normal, then disabling the program prior to ripping. Seems to have worked ok.

If you disable AnyDVD prior to ripping then it can't remove the copy protection as you've disabled it

Nice one James.

Downloaded the beta version and Jack Reacher has successfully ripped to hard disk after going through the "fixing defective disk errors".

The ripped file now plays in vlc.

UK or US disc?
 
Tried Beta 7.1.8.2. Failed on UK R2 Disc

After you press the Copy Disc button from the "Rip video DVD to Harddisk " option it now immediately produces an AnyDVD Ripper warning box saying

"FileIO 0 D:/VIDEO_TS/VTS_18_0.IFO"
