Have AnyDVD Version 6.1.5.5, Clone DVD Version 2.9.0.8. and Philips DVD +RW 8701 burner. Using Philips DVD +R disks to burn. On playback, previews and special features appear distorted and pictures appear in bits randomly over the screen, but the main feature plays fine. I used a FujiFilm DVD +R disk, and everything plays fine. How can I fix this ... I have approx. 100 Philips DVD disks left and don't want these to go to waste. This only happened when the updates were installed - previously with Version 6.1.0.0 everything was OK.

Anydvd, regardless of version numbers, has absolutely nothing to do with burn quality issues.
1. Update your burner's firmware (if available)

2. Use good quality media only (Memorex, Ritek, Princo, Fuji, and Maxell that are not made in Japan--are not good quality media).
If you're using poor quality media, then you should expect problems.
Use Taiyo Yuden Premium, Verbatim, Maxell Plus, Maxell Broadcast Quality

3. Try lowering your burn speed a little (if you have a 16x burner and 16x rated media try writing to it at 12x instead of 16x; an 8x burn speed on 16x rated media wouldn't be a bad idea either)
4. If you're using +R, +RW, or +R DL media, change the booktype to "dvd-rom"

6. Try setting a custom size of 4300 in whatever burning program you're using (but if you're using good media, you shouldn't have to) if you're using regular single layer dvd-5 (4.7GB) discs.
Bad burn quality is notorious around the end of discs (see step 6)
and also at layer breaks when using low quality DL media (use Verbatim +R DL media, and change the booktype to "dvd-rom")

Thanks for your tips. With due respect, can you then explain to me why previous to the upgrade, I was able to use the same batch of DVDs to burn and it was fine, and now it doesn't work properly, but switching to another brand of DVD works fine. Curious to know this.

Yes, bad quality blank media can vary in results from disc to disc, even within the same spindle. With good blank media you can play "find the bad blank" game. With inferior quality blank media you get to play "find the blank that works" game. And even when inferior blank media does work, you can play the "will my backups still play after 6 months (or even after two years)" game .
Try Taiyo Yuden Premiums
And with +R media, please ensure you're changing the booktype to "dvd-rom". Doing so improves the likelyhood of being able to playback the blank media properly in standalone dvd players.
Clonedvd versions could affect burn issues (still unlikely in your case--but that's actually possible; whereas, Anydvd has nothing to do with burning).
