Have tried to copy "Underworld Evolution" several times with the newest version of AnyDVD, but getting a long list of 'skipping bad sector' messages followed by a notice it can't be copied. Copied & burned a different DVD movie after with no problems. Anyone else having trouble with this movie?

Does the disc play properly in a stand alone DVD player? If it doesn't, it's probably either dirty or defective.

Yes, I've watched the movie. Also, I cleaned it after the first copy failure. I will now repair the disc and try again. Thank you for your help.:)

If that doesn't work, try using the AnyDVD ripper to see if you can get a clean rip. If not, I'd probably find a different copy.

Sadly, I don't know what ripping is. My computer savvy ranks just above slug.

DVD would not play after cleaning. Below is info by AnyDVD upon scanning:

If you right click on the AnyDVD fox icon, you'll see a set of options. One will be to rip DVD video to hard drive. You must specify a folder to rip it to. Try that to see if you can get anywhere. If that doesn't work, I'd assume you've got a flawed disc.

I've backed up this disc almost a year ago with no problems (so theres no reason for AnyDVD not to work with it). Almost guaranteed you have a bad disc. Just to be sure, I suggest you scan it with VSO Inspector found here: http://www.vso-software.fr/products/inspector/inspector.php (plus its free!). Thats the problem with Sony's protection, they produce far more faulty discs than just normal CSS encryption.

Although most think this problem is solved, I am also having problems.

I have had problems ripping the DVD to my hard drive with two diffrent disks, one of them new. Both disks played just fine on the computer and in a standalone DVD player. When I start ripping the DVD I get some kind of File IO error and it can't continue. I also ran VSO Inspector on the new disk and it found no problems.

I have been able to rip other DVDs just fine using AnyDVD. I have also had this problem with one other DVD and that was Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

I have tried the rip with both v6.1.4.3 and v6.1.4.5 and have had the same results both times. I have also updated to the latest firmware on my drive.

Any Help at all would be great!

Thanks,

That's my status window. I'm going to try and rip it now.

So, I just tried copying it with Clone and to my surprise, it didn't work. I'm using the ripper now and only getting 1% into the DVD without it telling me there's an error.

It definitely sounds like you've got a bad source disk. Did you check it with Vso Inspector?? I copied this disk some time ago and didn't have any problems at all with AnyDVD & 1 Click Pro.

The AnyDVD ripper also errors out at 1% on my disk and I know the disk is good. I ran the VSO Inspector and it found no problems, plus the DVD plays just fine on ever player and computer I have tried it on including my own. I just can't get it to copy to the hard drive. Copying and pasting the VIDEO_TS folder also does not work and DVD Decrypter also does not work. It does the same thing as AnyDVD and errors-out at 1%.

For testing purposes, I removed AnyDVD v6.1.4.5 and installed v6.1.3.6 and to my surprise it worked just fine.

According to the AnyDVD History, the AnyDVD ripper was re-written from scratch starting with version 6.1.4.3. A few new features were added but it looks like there are a few bugs with the ripper. What I can't figure out is why DVD Decrypter could not work at all even when AnyDVD was turned off.

AnyDVD History

6.1.4.3 2007 05 08
- New (DVD): AnyDVD ripper rewritten from scratch. It is no
longer based on FixVTS code. If you want more control
(stream selection, main movie only selection, ...) we
recommend CloneDVD2 available at http://www.slysoft.com
- New (DVD): AnyDVD ripper can now handle heavily protected discs
- New (DVD): AnyDVD ripper output is now fully compatible with
DVD Shrink and Nero Recode

I like the new features but I would rather it work, so I am going to stick with version 6.1.3.6 for now.

Thanks,
