AnyDVD 6.1.4.1 beta

Who are you and what have you done with Webslinger?!?!?! :D I thought you were going to back me up on the CloneDVD->DVD Shrink link feature addition. :D

If one owns Anydvd and must rip, he or she should be using Clonedvd. I always recommend ripping with Clonedvd. And with that Sony/Lionsgate nonsense with Shrink, I agree with you completely.

Just to clarify a little . . . I, in fact, bought Clonedvd three times for home use (despite the fact I didn't have to, because it's not as though I'm burning on all three systems at the exact same time), before I became a moderator here, so obviously I feel Clonedvd is important to own if you also own Anydvd.

Ohhh . . . do you mean after clonedvd rips you want it to automatically load Shrink? Errr . . . I dunno how Elby would feel about that, especially for legal reasons. But I don't feel I'm in a position here to be commenting on that.

Once again, it was a joke. I was teasing James about it in the CloneDVD beta thread. :) Elby would HATE the idea, tbh. And who could blame them. It was completely meant as a joke and not a real suggestion.

Anyone have any word as to when both Anydvd and Clonedvd will be out of beta and put out as an official release?

No idea. I can tell you Anydvd 6.1.4.2 is very stable on Windows XP. I would recommend updating to it.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've downloaded them both, and, it's not that I don't have faith in Slysoft, because I do. I am just weary of any beta releases because of my experience in the past. I do have XP though, and may install it anyway out of excitement. I'm looking forward to throwing SAW 3 in, running it through clone, and then having compatible files for Recode. Up until now, any Sony disc I process, the output files from Clonedvd won't compress. I have however, found "ways" around that.

None-the-less, I am not the least bit disappointed in Anydvd!!

I know Casino Royale R1 will open directly in Recode with Anydvd running in the background (no need to rip at all). I'm not sure if you can do that with Saw 3.

You can also rip with Anydvd ripper (with 6.1.4.2) and import that rip into Recode if you want for a full disc backup.

Again, Anydvd 6.1.4.2 is very stable on XP. I haven't had any issues on three systems (and my friends haven't either).

Thanks for the advice, but I've tried everything with Sony's. Saw 3 will open in Recode w/anydvd running. It will compress just fine, but then I get a burn error stating incompatible files--do you wish to continue?? I back everything up through clonedvd-no compression, then import the files to recode to compress. Works fine with every other title. Sony's however, I have to use another "little" program on them after clonedvd is done and before I import them to recode. Then the files import/transcode/burn just fine.

o.k., I know that's not an issue with Casino Royale, because another person reported no issues here:

Yeah, you no longer need to use fixvts with Clonedvd 2.9.0.4. Alternatively, with Anydvd 6.1.4.2 you can right click on the red fox icon on your toolbar and select "rip video-dvd to harddisk" and then import that rip into Recode for a full disc backup. If you own Clonedvd, then I generally recommend using Clonedvd to rip instead--as you can remove what you don't want first.

Sounds good, thank you for the tips. I can't wait to give it a shot.

Also, yeah you nailed it with Fix vts. I didn't know if those words were "legal" on the forum since big brother (or who ever) kicked their site into cyberspace.

Slysoft is located in Antigua, which is a DMCA free zone. And use of Fixvts isn't illegal where I am.
