I was wondering which settings to use in CloneDVD and AnyDVD
to be able to copy a certain James Bond movie corectly.

This particular movie has the feature itself and behind the scenes extras
etc mixed together in the vob files on the dvd.

I need to copy only the movie itself, which is angle 1.

CloneDVD seems to get it almost right, I get the movie but with
glitches or breaks (blank or grey frames) where I guess the extras were.

When I try DVDFabDecrypter it finds that the main feature is angle 1 and
manages to copy the movie without any extras and the ripped movie plays
just fine.

I would appreciate any help you can give me in setting up CloneDVD
and AnyDVD!!!

As does CloneDVD2.

I have the latest versions of CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD.

And yes, I did choose the movie title (angle 1), there is actually
2 titles to choose from I think the same movie but with different extras.

CloneDVD2 does copy the main title and it does strip out the extras but
there are noticeable glitches in the video where the extras were.

When watching the bitrate window during the copy process I notice
that whenever there is non movie material the bitrate drops down
quite alot for the movie itself.

It seems as if CloneDVD2 compresses (tries to match) the bitrate level
of the movie to that of the extras material, I chose not to compress the
movie (quality=100%).

Or mabey the bitrate window just shows the bitrate of the video that is
also shown in the preview window.....where I can see the extras material
from time to time along with the movie itself.

This issue boils down to you needing to figure out what titles you need to select in Clonedvd. I recommend watching the preview window.

There is only 1 James Bond movie with multiple angles. Have you got PowerDvd? Go into your menu.....click on M16DataStream......when you click "ON", you will notice at the top Angle2/Angle2......"OFF", is Angle1/Angle2. Default is "OFF".

You could try using both angles and see what happens. I would suggest a rewrittable if you don't want to waste discs. I used a different software to back this up, but don't recall a problem.

I've tried several different approaches with CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD
and the movie Die Another Day.
Some do actually result in the main movie being copied but always with
these glitches, a vob with a single blank cell!

As I also mentioned before the freeware version of DVDFabDecrypter
has no problem at all copying the title I want.

CloneDVD2 and DVDFabDecrypter also reports slightly different runtimes
of the main feature, CloneDVD2: 2:07:02 DVDFabDecrypter: 2:06:25.

Is CloneDVD2 able to produce a clean output of this movie?

Okay, I did a backup using CloneDvd2, movie only. Chose to include both angles as this seemed to be the default as indicated in my above post. Chose 1 audio (6 channel) and all English subtitles. Quality was at 77%.

I played back 9 chapters, just over 30 minutes, at normal speed. Absolutely no playback issues whatsoever. So in answer to your question, YES, I was able to produce a clean output of this movie. 30 minutes, anyways. Sorry, but don't have more time to watch the rest.

Yes, when I play the movie from the finished DVD, either from a folder
on my harddrive or from a burnt DVD I see only the movie I intended to copy.

It seems that my DVD player software ignores the extra non movie material
that is left on the DVD.

If I demux the mpeg2 video from the DVD to a separate m2v file I can see
that the playing time of the video is more than 10 minutes longer than the
feature itself and there is indeed extras mixed in with the movie.

This happens with the default settings in CloneDVD2, the main title and angle
1+2.

Should I choose to use the finished DVD to make an avi file of some sort
I might have some trouble getting rid of the extra non movie frames.

DVDShrink is also capable of copying the entire movie without including
any extra frames in the mpeg2 video.

Yes, this is how it is supposed to work.

Yes, this is how it is supposed to work. CloneDVD2 leaves cells of alternate angles present, to keep the structure of the copy as close as possible to the original. This sometimes very important (no other program I know of works as perfect with multi angle discs as CloneDVD does).

What you want to use is CloneDVD mobile in VOB passthrough mode, it does what you want.

Will these extra frames affect the quality of the finished movie for example
if want to make a single layer DVD?

Are they given the same amount of compression as the movie?
