The Tower of the Firstborn

I don't recall seeing Tower of the Firstborn mentioned anywhere. It's the only new movie I got this week that had any noticeable protection.

Note: This is definitely a movie that needs to be backed up on a DVD DL [although I used DVD-RB to compress it to DVD-5]. The movie itself is 3:09:09 with almost nothing else on the disc. None of it is of any value.

Screw that! I'd split that disc just to HAVE an intermission!! Good Lord!!

What was the bitrate of the DVD? You can see this in the DVD Rebuilder log.

The Hitcher

I picked up The Hitcher today. There was hardly any protection on it, not even Ripguard on a Universal release. Anydvd handled it just fine (6.1.3.6).

Although it got some bad reviews, it was actually pretty good (just leave some common sense at your doorstep as you watch it). Although, I was a little kid when I watched the original and don't remember much. The reaction of my wife jumping during certain scenes was worth it alone!!

I believe you are askin for this?

- Reduction Level for DVD-5: 57.4%
- Overall Bitrate : 3,379/2,703Kbs
- Space for Video : 3,786,358KB
- HIGH/LOW/TYPICAL Bitrates: 8,552/1,178/2,703 Kbs

The settings for CCE were VBR Bias = 25, Qual Prec = 16, VBR Passes = 2.

That was the movie and menus and nothing else. I've viewed portions on my TV and it actually appears alright but I'm going to experiment on a larger TV. Most likely I'll grab a few DVD+ DLs and burn it w/o compression.
