i converted a vhs to dvd using a vcr and a SV2000 10w6d dvd recorder from walmart. When i put the disk in the tokia 101 dvd player for viewing it will not show a picture but has sound. I put the dvd in the computer and opened the folders. One was lables video rm and the other was video ts folder. I transfered the video ts folder to my desktop and used clone dvd to burn a copy of the files to a new dvd disk. I put the new dvd back in the computer and it played fine, however the tokia dvd player will still not show the video. it does still play the sound. Why? The video ts folder burned on the new dvd contains the following files: Video_ts.ifo, vts_01_0.ifo, vts_01_2,
vts_01_4, video_ts.bup, vts_01_0.bup, vts_01_1, and vts_01_3 . How can i get this dvd to play on my dvd player?

It sounds like a media/player compatibility issue.

1. Use good quality media

2. If you're using +R, +RW, or +R DL media, change the booktype to "dvd-rom"

any reason it will play in other dvd player? What do i have to do to get it to play in the tokia one? The tokia manual says it supports the vcd type. Is there a promt file i can put in or a way to chane the setup to play in the tokia or do i just down load one of those programs and hope it works?

Is the Video output properly connected from the Tokia player to your TV? Some players just won't play some media.

I have that same DVD Recorder (SV2000) and I've copied a little over 100 VHS tapes so far. I bought some Maxell DVD+RW (+R doesn't need to be finalized) to copy from the VHS. I edit it with Shrink and burn onto a Verbatim.

...(+R doesn't need to be finalized)...
RE standalone dvd recorders
it does if you want it to play on a dvd player other than the one it's recorded on.

+RW discs can be played on most players once the disc has been ejected.

The SV200 is the first DVD Rccorder I have owned so I can't comment on any others.......... burns I have made on a +RW disc will play on any of the 3 other players that I own.
