Hello. I will describe my problem:

I place the original DVD in the disc drive and it copies fine. I then place a blank DVD to write the DVD. The first one does fine. I try to do a another original DVD. It copies just fine, however when I place my blank media into the disc drive, nothing happens. The disc drive light just blinks. I try several blank DVD's and nothing works.

I am using right now HP dvd-r-16x speed
Latest anydvd
Latest clonedvd
I did what was said in regards to the Busmaster IDE thingys, lol.
I have a factory installed DVD burner (My computer was ordered from Dell). I cant seem to get it to update.

Is there anything else that I need to give you as far as info?

If you're expecting the movies to play automatically on your computer when you insert your backups into the computer, try running your dvd-video playback software first.

1) What blank media are you using? Specify a) brand name b)type (-R, +R, -RW, +RW, RAM, DL, etc.) c)media code, d) capacity/size, e) batch codes/serial codes (often found printed on the inner plastic hub of the blank disc), and f)country (factory information would be great as well, if possible) where the media was made (look on the physical packaging; do not rely on programs to accurately give you this information).

If you don't know how to obtain media codes, you may find the following programs useful:

http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com and http://www.dvdinfopro.com/

2) At what speed are you burning your blank media?

3) Click the red fox icon in your system tray. Select "status" on the left hand side of your screen. With the problematic disc inserted in your computer, click the appropriate drive tab letter (the drive containing the disc) in Anydvd. In the window below the drive letter, copy and paste the information Anydvd gives you in your post asking for help.

I'm actually having much the same problem. I've been using CloneDVD/AnyDVD for more than a year now with great success, though I did just do a full rebuild of my machine. Newest program files and updated drivers for both DVD and DVDRW drives. I did get one good copy the other day, so I know it's capable of working, but the rest come out coasters. When I try to play the copied DVD (tried in multiple drives in multiple computers) it just continually spins up the drive. Nothing will recognize a disk as actually being present, and AnyDVD doesn't give any specific errors. I'll post blank media info later when I have it in front of me, and I'm burning backups at 8x.

1. Update your burner's firmware (if available)

2. Use good quality media

and

3. Try lowering your burn speed (not below 4x; if you have a 16x burner and 16x rated media try writing to it at 12x instead of 16x)
4. If you're using +R, +RW, or +R DL media, change the booktype to "dvd-rom"
http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=476 (step 3)
5. Avoid sticker labels (they tend to cause problems)
6. Try setting a custom size of 4300 in Clonedvd (but if you're using good media, you shouldn't have to)

Bad burn quality is notorious around the end of discs
and also at layer breaks when using low quality DL media (use Verbatim +R DL media, and change the booktype to "dvd-rom)

Also, check the preview screen in Clonedvd to ensure you're backing up the proper title.
