Hi there, new to the forum and have found it very helpful. Thanks, Slysoft!

Been very successful using Slysoft with both DVD Shrink and Nero 7 Recode. But Blood Diamond has been a problem. With both Shrink and Nero 7, the analysis portion of the process goes all the way to 99% or 100%, then stops and just sits there.

Just to make sure, I re-did Miami Vice (Shrink and Nero Recode) and Casino Royale (Nero 7 Recode), and they worked just fine.

Is this movie too new, Slysoft not caught up, yet? Or is there another issue that I need to look into? Anybody else running into this problem?

Many Thanks!

Could be a bad original. I don't recall having a problem with Blood Diamond using AnyDVD and Shrink. (even ones that play can still be bad)

Thanks for the replys, Clams and Webslinger :) :) - I'll get Blood Diamond swapped and re-try. I'll post the result.

Sounds like a bad original. I did it with the third party stuff.

Well, got Blood Diamond swapped, and tried again - same result. Both DVD Shrink and Nero 7 Recode analysis processes stop at 99% or 100%, and then just sits there. I did try DVD Shrink with and without AnyDVD running.

Then did The Lion King and a Barney movie for my son, and they both did great. So far, Blood Diamond seems to be the only movie that presents this problem for me.

Any other suggestions/recommendations?

Thanks in advance,
Gordo

That has all the symptoms of another bad original. I would suggest trying another software.

stalling on flushing buffers writing borders

yo guys- ive had the same problem on three discs-the only way i can end the burn is to turn of my tower-what a pain- but the disc actually does burn- also the only way i can stop the burned dvd from stopping and stalling during playback is to burn everything in 4x- bigger pain- any suggestions-
thanks-----------------------------------

Hi,

Have you tried dragging the VIDEO_TS folder (with AnyDVD running in the background) to the hard drive first to see if there are any CRC error (bad disk)?

No, haven't tried that. Will do, hoju. Thanks to you and everyone for helping a novice, BTW. :)

While at work yesterday, I borrow a laptop from a buddy, downloaded DVD Shrink and used it to do Blood Diamond. As Webslinger suggested, it backed it up fine without AnyDVD.

He didn't have a decent DVD burning program, so I went to CNet and found a burning program called "CDBurnerXP Pro 3.0.116". Downloaded it and gave it a try. It worked! Went home and played it in my finiky DVD changer. It played!

So, I guess my task got done - but I am still wondering what the problem is at home. Since my buddy's laptop did fine, I suspect it's probably not a bad original. Gonna try what hoju suggested and will re-post.

Just a note on your DVD burning software choice...that program's fine I guess, but, if you want freeware DVD burning software I'd HIGHLY recommend IMGBurn. Freeware and works *EXTREMELY* well IMO.

You're quite welcome. I've been using it for the last couple months since I upgraded to Vista and haven't had one problem with it both on SL and DL discs. It was created by the author of DVD Decrypter and is a wonderful piece of code.

novakbhp have you tried anydvd and clonedvd2 ? i did blood dimond and i had no issues, R1 but yea have you tried any other combo programs besides shrink? theirs little possiblity that its your pc

Hi gus,

No, I haven't tried clonedvd2, yet. Between AnyDVD, DVD Shrink and Nero 7 Recode every movie I've tried has worked, except Blood Diamond. However, it is a small amount of movies (only approx. 40 or so) that I've done so far. Even Casino Royale (which seems to be a bit troublesome, according to some people on the forum) burned beautifully using AnyDVD and Nero.

I have read that clonedvd2 is just fantastic.

Well, I finally got it to work at home. Very, very embarrassing not to try this before starting this thread, for sure. Sorry, guys!

I've been using two DVD drives - one is a DVD ROM player, and the other a DVD burner obviously. I put the movie in the player to do the recoding, and the blank disc in the burner for burning.

So I put Blood Diamond in the burner for recoding AND burning, and it worked beautifully. So I guess I have a problem with the DVD ROM player - for some reason it just didn't like Blood Diamond.

I'll chalk this up to inexperience and not thinking on my part. I'm slow, but trying to learn.

Many thanks to all of you for the advice and being patient with a new guy. :) :) :)
