I searched for "rip" on that page. It only appears in reference to protected audio cds--and even then the statement is intended to mean "allows you to rip" (and not that Anydvd actually rips protected audio cds).

Again, Anydvd ripper is intended as a "kludge" (as James describes it) or as I express it, a last resort. But do whatever you're happy doing. Anydvd ripper can produce problems.

Whatever you say, boss.

You're the webby.

rilin'

If AnyDvd, the one that I've got, is not ripping

then what the hey does it do?

I'm not one to typically jump in the middle of things, but, what is wrong with you?! I mean, seriously, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?! The bold all caps saying useless, POINTLESS things nonstop...it's rather annoying to say the least. No one even understands what it is you're trying to have WebSlinger prove to you.

I *THINK* you're trying to say that AnyDVD is a ripper. In fact, it was NOT designed as a RIPPER...it was designed to remove protections on the fly so that OTHER programs can do the ripping. However, at one point in time this became insufficient thanks to Sony and Macrovision. So, they added an AnyDVD Ripper *FUNCTION*. However, that is ONE part of AnyDVD, not the entire program. AnyDVD was never intended to be a ripper and the ripping function included is a hack, at best. When you insert a disc, in order to get it somewhere else you will either have to drag the contents of the disc to your hard drive in which case Explorer becomes the actual ripper, or you'll use CloneDVD or some other program to back up your movie, in which case THEY become the ripper, or if you have reason to, you'll use the AnyDVD Ripper FUNCTION. That's the last thing you should try as it can cause issues.

But then, you've been told all this before several times. Yet you make it your mission in life to argue pointlessly with a moderator on this forum. Yea, um, good luck with that. I really don't see what the big deal is here...

He wants me to prove that Pursuit of Happyness is CSS protected in Region 1 and that the film is not region free. But he refuses to visit this link (and scroll down):
http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.php?p=18909&postcount=1

He wants me to copy and paste information (or retype it myself) for him to read in this thread, which I've already done once before out of good will (in fact, I actually retyped some info); but I can only tolerate so much. As I stated before, I am not his pet monkey; I am not going to dance if he shouts and makes demands of me.

There is a chance Anydvd is not working properly on his system, but at this point, I'm no longer interested in attempting to troubleshoot.

I don't blame you. You've taken more than I would have on the forum I moderate. :) To think that movie is released in Region 1 without at LEAST CSS and region coding is just stupid. NOT going to happen. Besides, as you pointed him to, the AnyDVD window clearly shows it's got a crapload of protection on it. Such is life. :)

Ah, but such is life

Maybe you wanna try disabling Anydvd before running whatever it is you're running in that picture? Anydvd removes CSS, region coding, and most other protections system wide when it's enabled. That's why whatever you're using is showing that information.

Or simply show the Anydvd status window? Click the red fox icon in your system tray. Select "status" on the left hand side of your screen. With the problematic disc inserted in your computer, click the appropriate drive tab letter (the drive containing the disc) in Anydvd. In the window below the drive letter, copy and paste the information Anydvd gives you in your post

Sometimes we're lucky.

Sometimes we're not.

And sometimes you don't know how the tools you use work. As has been said MANY times in this thread, AnyDVD REMOVES THE PROTECTION ON THE FLY. So any program you're using to back up the movie won't see the protection. Hence, the region free and no CSS. Shut down AnyDVD and try again...I think you'll be quite unhappy with the results.

You say you cannot read the attachments?

Shutting down Anydvd, and trying again---

There--but you do know that we are allowed only that much kb per file to upload, yes.

BTW, the program I am using does not allow Anydvd to be on--

If it did, then the Curse of the Golden Flower would not have shown Region code :1 and css encryption on vts's 2 to 11, as AnyDvd would have removed these.

Do try again. We all are getting enlightened.

Those who are also using this program should know, no?
Something tells me you haven't done what I did.
Not to worry. Be happy.

if you are not using slysoft products, why not go elsewhere?
any you still haven't mentioned what program(s) you're using.
and the attatchments can be much larger than what you have provided.

I didn't say I couldn't see the attachments. As for your...situation...I come to one of two conclusions. Either AnyDVD isn't completely disabled, or, you are backing up a copy. I trust the AnyDVD status windows that have been posted on this and other forums that say there IS protection on the disc in region 1.
