OS: Windows Vista Ultimate, clean install in November 06
Antivirus: NOD32 2.7
Anydvd version: 6.1.3.3
CloneDVD version: 2.9.0.3
DVD Reader: Lite-ON DVD SHD-16P1S GS03
DVD Burner: Pioneer DVD-RWDVR-111D 1.23

Within the last 2 or 3 Anydvd program revisions, I get a message on Windows startup that Anydvd cannot find any DVD drives. I check and the DVD drives are operating just fine. If I hit OK to that message, I get a message "File corrupted! Check for viruses and reinstall Anydvd". If I uninstall and reinstall Anydvd, it works for a while (few days) until the message above.

I work as a PC Technician for a living, so this really isn't that big of deal, but it is a bit annoying to keep having to remove/reinstall it. I guarantee you the system does NOT have a virus! I get signature updates from NOD32 daily, plus I run Vista using UAC.

Per the FAQ, here's the reg key info:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}]

I don't run Vista, and Anydvd 6.1.3.3 was supposed to address the bootup issue with Anydvd (previously, there was a bit of an issue involved with UAC, so to the dismay of a few people, I was occasionally suggesting disabling UAC).

I don't think that's the info I'm looking for, by the way. I'm trying to remember how Vista worked . . .

Log on to Windows by using an account that has administrator rights and permissions.
Click Start, type regedit in the quick search, and then click the regedit icon in the search results.

In Registry Editor open My Computer, and then open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
open SYSTEM
Search for 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318 (uncheck the Values and Data options in Look At in the find dialog).
In the right pane (topic area), select UpperFilters.
What info is there?
In the right pane (topic area), click LowerFilters.
What info is there?

I may need Zebadee's help.

I wouldn't rule out a virus or other malicious software, even with an up to date virus scanner.
Please do the following:
After a fresh install, check the MD5 hash of AnyDVD.exe.
For version 6.1.3.3 this should be EBB44F92B490B7C4923DB21910C27F2F
If you get the "File corrupted! ..." message, verify the MD5 checksum again.
If it is different, AnyDVD.exe *is* corrupted somehow.
If it is the same you found a bug in AnyDVD I'll have to fix.

Hi :)
My registry looks like this.
OS Windows Vista Ultimate 32 Bit. Clean install (can't remember date).
Latest versions of AnyDVD CloneDVD2
DVDRW's Pioneer 111L BenQ 1655 Plextor 760 Lite-On LH-20A1P
Antivirus Avast Home Ed + ClamAV

Thank you, Zebadee.

aleinss, that's what we need to see (the "Anydvd ElbyCDFL ElbyDelay" info/entry)--and not hex information.

Hi :)
Useful tool this (see attached). No upper filters at all.

Hi :)
Only upper filters found relates to my Raided HD's.

Sorry about the Hex values...here the screen shots...I guess when you export MULTI_SZ values from the registry it converts them to hex values. Any ways, I booted up my PC tonight and Anydvd works fine again? I did not touch it at all. MD5 hash is verified as: EBB44F92B490B7C4923DB21910C27F2F. I ran a full virus scan from NOD32 with virus definitions from yesterday: nothing found. Inclined to think it might be hardware related, but I don't have any problems with any of my other programs or games crashing.

If I get any further problems, I will be sure to update this thread.

Thanks to everyone for your helpful diag. utilites!

Looks normal enough. Pxhelp20-- "Part of Sonic Burning engine, it's made by prassi/veritas and licensed to Sonic. Comes with Winamp, 1click DivxToDVD and (older versoins of) Digion Audio. " from http://www.cdr-zone.com/forum/about4719.html

Pxhelp20 usually doesn't cause any problems with Anydvd.

I'm curious about the SCSI device listed? Is that a virtual drive?

Anyway, did you check what James said? visit http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.php?p=21829&postcount=3

I will post the MD5 value the next time I get the message. The SCSI drive is due to me using Virtual Clonedrive.

Corrupt message received again tonight, did not uninstall or reinstall program. I did the MD5 check right after the error message and this is what I get:
EBB44F92B490B7C4923DB21910C27F2F. Any further troubleshooting I can take?

Update: Rebooting fixed the problem. I'm going to try turning off Autostart so I can launch Anydvd on demand. Perhaps I have a timing issue where the DVD drives are not spun up yet, so Anydvd thinks I have no DVD drives and therefore throws me that message?

This error also happen if you have a cracked program or a ilegal key.
