Intervideo DVDCopy 4 Error with Sony Movies

I'm using the AnyDVD (Ver. 6.1.3.2), with Intervideo DVDCopy 4 to copy my movies. I've never had any problems with it, until recently - with Sony Movies. I've noticed that others have run into problems with Sony movies, but haven't seen any solutions for someone using DVDCopy 4.

AnyDVD does its part perfectly, however when I go to burn it, DVDCopy prepares to copy - shows the progress bar - progress shows 0% briefly - the the program just shutsdown - and gives the ole send or don't send error message prompt.

This happens if I try disc to disc, or harddrive 1st - then to disc. I've also tried other various combos of options: Other versions of AnyDVD, 4.7 discs, 8.5 discs, main movie only, custom, etc. etc. - Same result each time.

I know my programs are working fine, because I can turn right around and burn a Non-Sony Movie perfectly. I just downloaded the CloneDVD trial, and will give that a shot...however, I would like to be able to continue using DVDCopy - if possible. Oh, and the last two Sony Movies I tried were Rocky Balboa and Casino Royale.

Any thoughts?

AnyDVD is updated to work with CloneDVD. You can buy ClonedDVD or use one of the other DVD burning softwares that do not depend on AnyDVD. DVDFab Decrypter (decrypts only) and RipIt4Me (does the whole copying process when used with DVDDecrypter and DVDShrink) are free. DVDFab Platinum (does it all) is $49 U.S.

Oh, I thought I was in the Third Party Software section?

Thanks for the reply and the point to CloneDVD. I've used it - and it does work, Sony Discs and all. I'd just really like to use DVDCopy 4, if I can get it working on Sony's again. Hopefully someone's ran across it before, or has an idea I can try.

This situation may apply to DVDCopy 4 as well as Shrink:

(if you read carefully, you will see where I mention how to get the main movie only;
you might be able to do the same)

It's also possible dvd copy 5 platinum works better, but I really have no idea.

Ah, thanks for the link. I bet you are right. Well, for now - I guess I'll get a little more familiar with CloneDVD for any Sony Movies. Thanks for the help.

You can use DVDCopy 4 if you remove the encryption first. Basically, AnyDVD is NOT updated to work with anything other and DVDClone.

That's not true. Anydvd works with Nero Recode 2.5.2.0 and 2.2.6.17b,, 1-Clickdvdcopy, DVD neXt COPY, DVD95 Copy, DVD Rebuilder, etc. in addition to Clonedvd2 and Clonecd. When Anydvd is updated, the update works with those programs. If it's not a Sony release or crazy R2 German release, the updates will also work with Shrink.
