Using Clone DVD V2.9.0.3, AnyDVD V6.1.3.2. Since the update to AnyDVD V6.1.3.2 when I rip movie to hard drive using Clone DVD I get 99 .VOB and 99 .IFO files. The orginal DVD only had 19 files. What is going on?

Thanks.

Wouldn't it be helpful to state what movie was causing the problem?

Sorry, Was just comming back to state the movies. Stranger than Fiction and The Holiday.

They are new releases. When I go to burn the backup it burns the disk with only burns 19 files. I wonder if this is a function of handling a HD disk?

The answer as to why so many files is it's part of Sony's new protections. Apparently the specs for a DVD allow VTS files counting up to 99 and that's what they are doing. Movies like Saw III [the first release to do this], Stranger Than Fiction, Casino Royale & The Holiday all had 99 VTS files.

CloneDVD didn't create more files than existed on the original DVD. I will also note that after ripping the DVD to the HDD with this new protection if you look close you may note that the VIDEO_TS.VOB file vanishes. So, actually there are less files than the original DVD. I hadn't ever seen this before but maybe this was just the first time I paid enough attention.

Also note that this has nothing to do with HD-DVD or Blu-Ray content since CloneDVD doesn't work with either.

I've made backups with CloneDVD 2.9.0.3 and AnyDVD 6.1.3.2 without problems and they all create the correct number of files as the original disc minus these new Sony protected discs. As to you saying it only originally had 19 files on the DVD... something isn't being read correctly. If you are talking about The Holiday, Stranger Than Fiction, etc, they most definitely had more than 19 files.

You are right about the number of files on the orginal DVD. There are 99 Files. When burning the backup there were still only 19 chapters. Thanks for pointing that out. Just looked strange that the hard drive had the 99 files. Have never seen that before.
