I haven't done much DVD backup but in the ones I've done, about 6, I've noticed that each one has just one scene where the scene freezes for one or two seconds and then the movie continues without any interaction on my part. There is no one common place in the DVD's that the freeze occurs. Other then this the product is great and I'm very pleased with it.

Webslinger,
You are probably on the right track but ... What if AURELIUS1 is burning to Double Layer media and what he is experienceing is layer transitions that CloneDVD placed in less than aesthetic spots making them blatantly noticable but pefectly normal ... considering the transcoded layer break placement?

What about that AURELIUS1? Are you compressing and then burning to SL media or are you backing up to DL media?

I am only using SL media. I do have a DL writer on my Dell 600 but have not used DL media as I do not yet know under what circumstances I would use it. The latest DVD I backed up was Casino Royale and like all of the others it had a one or two second freeze in one scene and then continued by itself. Other then this I have not encountered any problems with this product.

Well, then, I would find that out when the OP answers point 2 from my first reply.

I'm just a simple guy. I can't stick my hand against the screen and divine information. ;)

But you do raise a good point.

1. What are you playing your backups on?
2. Have you tried to play them on your computer?
3. Have you tried to play them on another standalone dvd player?

I would still refer to my first reply.

I'm playing them on a brand new Sony DVD player. I have not tried playing them any where else but that is a good idea and I will do that later today and let you know what I find. Thanks.

I know you were just joking around but I am just now recovering from my shock:

... you can't? ... I didn't realize ... I will lower my expectations appropriately. :D
