Ever since the release of AnyDVD 6.1.2.5 I have been getting burn problems in CloneDVD and other burning software 4 out of 5 times with all different movie titles, I am using AnyDVD as my decrypter for all backup movie software, I use Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim media exclusively, this happens at all burn speeds be it 4x to 16x and on both +R or -R media and and always at exactly the same spots on all the DVD'S, I have1 Gig of Ram and 120 gigs of free hard drive space.

I am attaching a picture ! Anyone have any ideas ?

@ ABC,

Suggest visiting SlySoft (http://www.slysoft.com) and download the newest most current up to date version of AnyDVD.

Unfortunately you failed to provide the Name/Model/Firmware Version of your DVD Burner. Suggest ensuring that your undisclosed DVD Burner has the newest most current up to date Firmware available.

Also I note from the image you posted that your LiteOn SOHD-16P9S DVD-ROM has old obsolete out of date Firmware. The newer most current up to date Firmware Version FSOJ is available for your LiteOn SOHD-16P9S DVD-ROM.

I am using AnyDVD 6.1.3.0 and Clone DVD2 2.9.0.3

My burner is an OEM supplied model, LG GWA4166B, LG OEM firmware version 1.01, no updates available yet to my knowledge, I have never found one anyways.

No matter what the movie, this spike is always exactly at the same place.

I will look in to my Lite-On reader firmware update, thanks.
 
I did a minimal install on that machine. I'm gonna try it on this machine here anyway, it's got no burner ie no Nero's.

I am having the same difficulty with writing to DVDs and I have new DVD burner and haven't had much of a problem before this. Sometimes it takes three or four tries to get a burn. It is also hit or miss whether it will work on our DVD player. It used to be rather consistent. Did you write to the company about this? It would be good if they knew we were both having the same problem.

1. Update your burner's firmware
2. Use good quality media
3. Try lowering your burn speed
4. If you're using +R media, change the booktype to "dvd-rom"
5. Try setting a custom size of 4300 in Clonedvd (but if you're using good media, you shouldn't have to)

What exactly is a RPC1 firmware upgrade, what exactly does it do ?

What difference is there between that and regular manufacturer supllied firmware upgrade ?

Most DVD devises are RPC2 locked to particular DVD Region. A RPC2 locked DVD Device will only play a DVD from the DVD Region that the RPC2 DVD device is locked to. A RPC1 DVD device is “Region Free” can play a DVD from any DVD Region.

The Dangerous Brothers 1I24 Firmware (http://tdb.rpc1.org/#GWA4166B) is RPC1 (Region Free), which allows the GWA-4166B to play DVDs from any DVD Region Code. The Dangerous Brothers 1I24 Firmware has a Windows GUI (Graphic User Interface), which allow flashing in Widows. The other flasher is a DOS flasher and requires flashing in the DOS mode and is a RPC2 (Region Locked) Firmware, which locks the GWA-4166B to only play DVDs from the DVD Region that the GWA-4166B is locked to.

If you visit the Web Link (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericSoftwareDownloadIndex?lc=en&cc=us&softwareitem=pv-37908-1) and read the description of the GWA-4166B 1I24 Firmware you will see all the improvements the GWA-4166B 1I24 Firmware adds over the GWA-4166B 1.01 Firmware.

Excuse my naivety but if I understand this correctly, TDB have taken the HP firmware update which already improves the LG OEM 1.01 firmware and made region free additionally, would that be correct.

Yes. The Dangerous Brothers took the Hewlett-Packard GWA-4166B RPC-2 (Region Locked) 1I24 Firmware and made it RPC-1 (Region Free). This is nothing unusual. Firmware modifiers like The Dangerous Brothers, Liggy & Dee, CodeGuys, NIL, dhc014 and others do this all the time.

The Dangerous Brothers also took the Hewlett-Packard GWA-4166B 1I24 DOS Firmware (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericSoftwareDownloadIndex?lc=en&cc=us&softwareitem=pv-37908-1) and made a Widows GUI flasher to allow flashing in Widows instead of flashing in DOS ->
