CloneDVD mobile 1.5.0.4 beta

Any idea when we can see support for the Blackberry Bold, resolution 480x320?

As it is, I'm forced to convert the movies using 'Apple iPhone AVC' and then "convert for optimal playback" using Blackberry's media suite. It just seems all to much.

This is from the spec sheet on the phone: Video player DivX/WMV/XviD/3gp
All of these formats are already supported.

Edit the device.ini file with Bold scripts below

You can edit devices.ini file in notepad and add either or both of the Bold formats AVI/MP4. (Save a copy of your existing device.ini file as a backup.) Either scroll or search in notepad to find the existing Blackberry scripts. Add the below script/s to that section. Save the file and then open up CloneDVDmobile. The two new device formats should appear in the listing under BlackBerry. Both produce good results but I prefer the MP4 format. You may wish to use the cinemascope and/or zoom setting to complete fill the Bold screen. One of the more senior members may have some further refinements to suggest. The first format is the creation of rgvsean from BB forums.

AC/DC Live at Donington Problem

Source DVD: AC/DC Live at Donington

1.5.0.4 beta + dp1 aborted the conversion right away using the iPod Touch preset and decoding the LPCM audio.

Conversion aborted at 12% when decoding the .ac3 audio.

Deinterlace was checked since the source seems to be video on the DVD.

Dump logs attached.

this i believe is correct, i think it was filmed on 35mm film, and transfered later, even the blu-ray version released not long ago was not the cleanest of images.

If it was filmed on 35mm then as a film source it should NOT be deinterlaced. According to amazon.ca this dvd is from a "Brand new Panavision film transfer." The BluRay is from a "Brand new 35mm film transfer to high definition."

But then I guess it's the sound that counts more in this case ;)

Hi Websurfer. If this is working please post it in the CloneDvdMobile Format Extensions Sticky at the top of the forum - that's where most people might look for something new. Also, please put your suggested profile within code strings as otherwise unwanted spaces may appear when cut-and-pasted (see quoted profiles above).

Genetix: - even if a profile is added, many devices require the output to also be passed through their proprietary "media studio" to add unique identifiers which allow playback. CloneDvdMobile is only the first step in a multi-step process for most people who don't have one of the major video players, unfortunately.

I read that too, which is why my first attempt(s) to convert it had the deinterlace checkbox un-checked

When I run the .vob files through DGIndex, it indicates that the files are encoded as interlaced NTSC video.

Most Hollywood DVD .vob files show up in DGIndex encoded as progressive film. AC/DC LAD is definitely an exception.

BTW, for this title, the quality of the converted movie improves noticeably when deinterlace is checked in CDVDM.

- new: added support for audio copy, video copy (lossless transfer)

Does this mean that there is an option for a perfect DVD quality rip to a format or does it mean something else? If it does mean that its a perfect rip which profile is it, pass-though re-encode or another?

May be of interest. Just did some testing on Hancock.

On a 2 Pass from a copy of the entire DVD, menus, extras etc. it converts to Zune MP4 just fine, same with a copy of just the movie vobs. However a 3 Pass fails everytime at around 89%.

Btw audio/video sync is just fine on this movie. Checking to see the results on a 1 Pass, then am going to go through my entire collection and see what results I get.

http://sandbox.slysoft.com/beta/SetupCloneDVDmobile1504beta.exe

then use http://sandbox.slysoft.com/beta/CloneDVDmobile1504beta_dp1.zip which

- fix: early aborted files could not be played at all
- fix: minor correction in ffmpeg's ac3 parser

ONLY EXPERIENCED USERS SHOULD USE THIS BETA

Before I install this beta version, will one of the formats create a file that playsback in 5.1 DD via a PS3? So far CDM VOBs is the only format that prouduces a file with DD playback via PS3. If one of the other formats do this which?

Yeah, I'll second that. It seems like forever (or 8 months, lol) since CloneDVD mobile has had an update. And now that mencoder has been ditched in these recent Betas, it'd be great to see a working release with all the issues ironed out. The beta has been floating around for a bit, now; hopefully something new happens soon.

If people pay attention to posts by Fernando he has noted on a couple of occasions that the engine used in CloneBD will also be used in CloneDVD mobile. Knowing this information from what has been openly stated by Fernando, I would figure that updates to CloneDVD mobile would be wasteful in the meantime.

CloneDVD mobile has not been forgotten.

That does sound interesting... this new transcoder engine sounds like it'd be useful as part of a general conversion program; or will CloneDVD mobile take care of that, as well?

What's that about DTS-HD, though? There are free programs that will pull the regular DTS out of DTS-HD audio... I hope this new thing will at least do that.

Well, remember that both posts aren't new. As for the plans on use of the engine, DTS-HD, etc, I have no idea about those. It's possible that things may have changed in the meantime. That post concerning DTS-HD is close to two months old now.
