I just got this program and mounted a DVD file. I have numerous DVD TS and Audio files. I guess ones with Bup don't work? I need to unmount so how do i unmount a tool wit Virtual Clone Drive?

I have Windows XP by the way. I do know that you have to turn off automatic disk play now in order to unmount, but how do i do that? Do i need to go and do that in the registry? How would i go about doing that? I know i am not very computer illiterate.

do you not open My Computer>right click VirtualClone Drive.then Virtual Clone Drive>Unmount?

What?
You don't need to turn off anything to unmount.

Well that makes things a lot easier. I would do that but everytime i right click i get an error message. "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close." I have uninstalled Virtual Clone Drive and re-tried this step and to no avail. I don't know if you could help me there.

Well, if right clicking in explorer doesn't work (with Virtual CloneDrive not installed), your computer has a serious problem. You need assistance by a pro (or reinstall the OS).

That comes as a surprise cause i do virus checks on my computer all the time and nothing comes up. I use a really good anti virus program too. Now if i re-install the OS will i lose all my saved files?

yes.

usually a reinstall will wipe everything on the harddrive or partition you install to.

the exception to this is windows vista if you install over a partition that has a windows folder. it will rename the old windows folder and install in the new windows folder, with your files remaining the same. but you will still need to install your programs again usually.

Is there an alternative to fix this problem? I don't have any of my files backed up at the moment. Can't i just do a system restore? I was told by someone i know that knows quite a bit about comptuers to do that.

you said you see a message like this:

capture_04062008_175746.jpg

just out of interest,do you see this one also:

capture_04062008_175725.jpg

regarding the first message:
instead of closing it,drag it to the bottom right hand corner of the screen so that you can barely see it,then right-click on VirtualClone Drive and can you unmount this time?

i get the top message but only when i right-click on external hard drives.
if i drag it out of view (to ignore it) i can go about my computing as normal.
obviously it doesn't solve the initial problem of the message appearing in the first place.

I only get the top message you posted.Well trying to drag the error message and re-click VCD didn't work. The hour glass just stays there, so i am not able to unmount the damn thing. I sent a message to Microsoft, but they don't make the fixes on that sorta thing. I don't know what is causing it. Strange this happens because I don't have a virus. And all the viruses i get are put into a vault by AVG free.

I would re-install Windows Xp but that will just wipe out everything, and could potentioally harm my mother board drives. I will just install VCD and put the Video and Audio TS files w/ bimp on another hard drive and see if they work there. If you have another way of doing this then i am all ears. Thanks for the info ppl.

Your problem could be related to invalid entries ans pointers in windows registry, and in some cases poor uninstaller could also cause problem. Download registry mechanic from pc tools and scan your computer with it should point out invalid entries. After that also defrag registry which is basically rebuilding from start. Your computer should run faster know and should not give you a problem.

I am sorry to say but Pc tools registry mechanic is not free.u cans

You can use others as well, if you like.

You are probably right about something being wrong with my registry.Regmechanic seems to be the best software for a damaged registry out there right now. It found 1000 + errors in the registry. Unfortanately i don't have a CC so that won't work for me right now. I can't just install both the DVD files and Virtual Clone on another hard drive and try it that way? I plan on doing that this weekend.

1000 + errors in the registry

When was the last time you did tune up, if i have more than 100 I am alarmed. 1000 errors a lot.

I have never doctored the registry since my Dad sold me this computer. Not sure if he had to repair files in his registry. My guess is that surfing for porn affects ones registry. I am just surprised that it works fast and haven't had any major errors. After reading the warning on Regmechanic website about computers with registries in the condition mine it, i deem it very important to buy Regmechanic and take care of this ASAP.

Crap Cleaner is good for removing temp files. For registry having specialize program will help more.

ccleaner does have a tab dedicated to fixing and removing invalid entries in the registry.

advanced windows care personal will sort out the registry too.

oops.. my bad. However ccleaner is not good registry cleaner. on another hand advanced windows care might be good program. Never tried

I already have CCcleaner and just tried it. That does not take care of my problem with Virtual Clone Drive. It really didn't find all the things wrong that RegMechanic did. After reading reviews on Cnet.com that seems to be the best one out there for those that don't know what the hell they are doing when fixing errors with their registry. My dad knows all about this sorta thing but is an ass and won't help.

Anyways when i get the money together and use this Regmechanic I will post my results here. Thanks for all the help.
