New patch for PowertoDVD8

Whoever tries it out, let us know what it breaks. I don't want to be the first guinea pig:disagree:

There are few posts in this forum and AVS talked about this update already. I installed it last night and watched a movie and frankly speaking I don't know what is the different perhaps I don't know what to look for. The good news for me is it is working well so far for me :)

Okay, I got it. I thought it was a new update from the one released yesterday. Well, my take on it is that unless they come up with some new ground breaking thing or add back in HD DVD support or I get a profile 2.0 disk that doesn't work, then i'll upgrade. With Cyberlink, it's not worth the chance you take unless they are ADDING new functionality that really does something.

Something fixed: playing movies with multi-part files (such as Disney BDs) now plays with no gap (audio and video) when switching from one file to another.
Something not changed: still crash (more or less) in the menu of Casino Royale (region A).

In what way 'crash', mine plays back fine

Oh, so that was it that made Ratatouille have the audio gaps. I haven't had that with any other Disney movie though.

Works just fine for me, updated my old version. Didn't disable the HD DVD fix and havent had any issues yet, also havent noticed any changes.

Last night something strange happened - at about 18-th minute in Enchanted, PDVD just stopped playing. It was as if I pressed 'stop' button.

After restarting the player, it went through same scene perfectly fine, and played without problems till the end.

Still not sure who to blame (drivers? AnyDVD? Girder?), but never seen this problem before last PDVD patch

Are they going to fix the annoying incompatiblity with Aero in Vista?

I thought version 8 would have done this.

The only thing it says is that it is for new Bluray discs. Thats all I know.

Well Slyfox the Cyberlink never talk straight. There may be good chance that they have done something more than that.

Anyone tried Across the Universe with this patch?

hmmm I experienced once but not recall which movie now. I had a home automation software/scripts running background 24X7 and I thought it was the script causing that... Same as you, just restart and no problem finish that movie.

I tried it and kept it, I find very little difference except for the fact that some Disney movies play alot better now.;)

This has never bothered me, but I just right now noticed that playing BD in Vista does NOT disable Aero. Tried with 7.3.3730a, and it doesn't disable it either. I guess it's the G35 board I'm using, so disabling Aero should be a graphics card/driver issue as well.

Strange - my copy of PowerDVD 8 says there is no upgrade, but I did find it on the web site.

Did they break their ability to tell users when an update is available?

Not sure what method they use but some software will check the site/server or vise versa periodically and it just takes some time to do that.

Not sure what you mean by this. AFAIK, Across the Universe won't play in any of the PDVD versions. Are you saying it will play with this latest patch?

Thanks,
erikt
