i've asked slysoft for help but they tell me that there program couldn't be at fault. My problem is if i totally wipe my computer clone dvd works fine for a few movies then it slows down. It goes from making a movie 30 min to taking 1 to 2 hours. I've even had a pro. go nuke the thing to and the same problem happened again. Works for a while then it takes for ever. please give me some help.

cpu 100%

i'm having the same cpu problem if i nuke the machine it works for a few movies at 50% or below then it goes back to 100% and the copy time triples

a) Is DMA enabled for your drives in
i) Windows XP?
ii) Windows Vista?
iii) general?

b) Is the original source disc bad? If so, the reading process will take longer.
Download Nero cd-dvd speed. It's a free program. Select the tab labeled "scandisc". Select the appropriate drive letter, and click "start". If Nero cd-dvd speed reports read errors, your disc is bad and needs to be exchanged--even if it plays fine (or your optical drive could be slowly dying).

c) Did you select an appropriate burn speed in Clonedvd? Obviously 4x is going to take longer than 12x.

d) Try another cable on the back of your burner (try an 80 wire cable if you have an ide burner). Maybe your existing cable has gone bad.

e) Try defragmenting your hard drive.

f) Ensure speed control is unchecked in Anydvd (or at least, ensure "Slow and Quiet" is not enabled).

g) Click http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.php?p=63749&postcount=12 to see what TBPirate did to resolve his problem.

h) ) What blank media are you using? Specify a) brand name b)type (-R, +R, -RW, +RW, RAM, DL, etc.) c)media code, d) capacity/size, e) batch codes/serial codes (often found printed on the inner plastic hub of the blank disc), and f)country (factory information would be great as well, if possible) where the media was made (look on the physical packaging; do not rely on programs to accurately give you this information).

If you don't know how to obtain media codes, you may find the following programs useful:

http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com and http://www.dvdinfopro.com/

i) At what speed are you burning your blank media?

j) What version of Clonedvd are you using?

Also,

a) Ensure Anydvd is running.
b) Put the problematic original movie dvd in your burner. Wait for Anydvd to scan the disc.
c) Right click the red fox icon on your toolbar.
d) Select "Create Logfile"
e) Wait for Anydvd to create a log file.
f) A pop-up screen will appear. Take note of the location where Anydvd created the logfile and the logfile's name. Click "ok".
g) Go to your My Documents folder
h) You will see a zip file called "Anydvd_Info_titleofmydisc.zip" (or something similar; see step f)
i) When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like
attach.gif
(in other words, look for the paperclip after clicking "quote" or when creating a new thread)
j) If you don't see that paperclip icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
k) A small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
l) Click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file you created.
m) click "upload"
n) Close the window. When you submit reply, or submit a new thread, the .zip file will be attached automatically for us to take a look at

You need to go through all the steps I listed.

100% cpu

i've had slysoft for 6 months worked fine till the past month and a half. Like i said if i nuke it it works fine for a few movies the goes to hell cpu task manger shows that clone dvd is using up all of its power. I've tried all the things people have said and took it to a pro. and same thing works good for a few movies and then goes to crap.

No. You haven't. And it's quite possible that something on your system is interfering with . . . well, if you don't provide any information, attempting to help you is truly pointless.

and took it to a pro

And yet, you're having problems, and I'm not on three different computers.

Since you're not following instructions nor providing me with the information I requested and appear to have exhausted Slysoft technical support, you'll have to hope someone else is willing to assist you.

damewood123, you are going to have to do as Webslinger has instructed and you have, to this point, not done. Until you do all of what has been requested it's impossible for anyone to even begin to help you.

If you want help then you are going to have to help other people to help you and that means providing useful information.

Just a thought here: if your CPU cooler is blocked (dust, age, whatever) and it doesn't provide sufficient cooling, depending on the processor you have, the CPU might be switching to a lower frequency to prevent itself from frying to death.

(you can check by opening the "system" icon in your control panel to see the current CPU frequency - as long as the CPU is still cool enough, it should show full speed though).
