Anydvd is no longer updating. I got as far as 6.4.0.4 with no problem then it won't update any more. When you try it goes as far as agreeing with license agreement, then won't install software, then tells you you need to restart computer, but the older version is still there. I have tried it on 2 different computers with the same result. Even if I totally uninstall the older version, it won't install. I can go back to 6.4.0.4 and it will reinstall with no problem Any ideas?

1. Delete your browser's cache

In Firefox 2.x

1. From the main menu, select Tools-->Clear Private Data
2. Check "cache".
3. Click "Clear Private Data Now".

or

In Internet Explorer 7.x:

1. Select Internet Options from the Tools pull-down menu.
2. Click the General tab-->Go to the Browsing history section-->Click the "Delete" button
3. The Delete Browsing History dialog box will display--->In the Temporary Internet Files section, click the "Delete files" button.
4. You are asked, "Are you sure you want to delete all temporary Internet Explorer files?"
5. Click the "Yes" button.

2. Delete whatever file you are trying to run when you install Anydvd. That file obviously isn't what you want anyway.

3. Click http://static.slysoft.com/SetupAnyDVD6411.exe, and run that file

Thanks for the info but it didn't work. I'm confused though what you meant about deleting the file I was trying to install. It came from your download section. However I clicked your link and downloaded it again. That didn't install either. BTW I am a licensed user. Anymore suggestions?

Try downloaing the file again using "save as" and sticking it on your desktop. Try running it from there as opposed to opening it upon download. And clear the browser cache again before you download - so as to make sure the new download is "fresh" and not a cached file.

-W (latest version went fine here)

Delete that file. It's obviously the wrong one. You've been trying to install Anydvd 6.4.0.4, which is the wrong file. So delete it.

It came from your download section.

First, I don't work for Slysoft, so it didn't come from my download section. Originally, you're right, the file did come from Slysoft. But it's not now. It's on your hard drive, and you're just getting the same file over and over again.

That's why you need to delete your browser cache--and that file.

Then you need to click http://static.slysoft.com/SetupAnyDVD6411.exe, and as Clams Canino wrote, save it to your desktop. Then click and run the file that you just saved to your desktop.

I went so far as to do a new install of Windows XP and went to the Slysoft Page. ran the file from there. Version 6.4.1.2 came down, saved to a temporary folder then ran and it is doing the same thing as before. It won't install. The reason I re-ran 6.4.0.4 is it is the last file that I have that will install. I have tried everything else that everybody has suggested and nothing is working.

Can you be a little more specific, please? Do you get an error message?

Try this:

a) Keep your license key file backed up safely
b) Uninstall Anydvd (start-->all programs-->Slysoft--->Anydvd-->Uninstall)
c) Reboot
d) Try running a registry cleaner program at this point like CCleaner
e) Download Anydvd http://static.slysoft.com/SetupAnyDVD.exe
f) Exit all Slysoft programs (including Anydvd, Clonedvd2, Clonecd, Clonecdtray, Clonedvdmobile, etc.). Check Windows Task Manager if you have to.
g) At this point disable your antivirus and firewall programs
h) Reinstall
i) Reboot
j) Install your license key (if required) http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=732
k) At this point enable your antivirus and firewall programs

I did another fresh install of XP. With nothing more than enough drivers installed to get on the Internet, I went to the Slysoft Homepage and downloaded 6.4.1.2 to my desktop. I cleaned cache and restarted the computer. I then ran the file. It goes all the way past asking if I agree to the license. It goes to where it shows me where it is going to install the program, I click ok but it does not install, just immediately comes back and says to restart the computer, but the program isn't there, no folder has been created for it either. I have one drive on the machine with no other copies of the program anywhere in the computer other than the one I just downloaded.

Do this please (and you may also want to check to ensure Spybot's teatimer isn't on your system, as older versions of that program appeared to have interfered with Anydvd's installation process) :

Okay. I have never heard of this. On the new install there was nothing on the drive but essentials to get on the Internet and get the file. I then disconnected the network just in case it could see drives on other network machines.

When it asks you, "Do you want to continue" during install ... say "yes".

I want to thank everybody that has helped me with this issue and apoligize for my own ignorance. I did not recognize that the way AnyDVD installed had changed. After getting the above reply I followed the advise and although it appeared that the program did not install, I hit YES and it went through and updated. Again I'm sorry for the trouble but greatly appreciate the help of those that tried to help.

Sorry, it never occurred to me that you weren't clicking "yes".

Good thing James replied. :agree:

That just shows we all can overlook the obvious. Yes, I am glad he replied and again am thankful for all of you that tried to and managed to get me through this. If I can ever be of assistance.
